Job Description
The role is responsible for assisting orthopedic surgeons in the treatment of bone and joint injuries. The role involves but is not limited to the application and removal of casts, splints and braces.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Orthopedic Surgeons with orthopedic outpatient procedures as well as inpatients and operating room
- Applies and changes cast and applies various traction devices as directed.
- Reports any significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse-RN immediately.
- Responsible for documentation and participation in the use of information technology and relevant electronic medical records.
- Facilitate effective communication between the patient, family, and the interdisciplinary health care team as required.
- Maintains the departmental inventory of necessary materials and supplies
- Ensures provision of a clean and safe working environment that minimizes risks to the patient, visitors, and staff
- Provides health education, relevant to the clinical condition, and is documented in the patient health record.
Accountabilities
- Maintains a safe and secure unit environment, identify report, and document any risks and/or incidents appropriately.
- Complies with International and DOH patient safety goals
- Demonstrates evidence of mandatory and unit-specific competencies completion, accredited and non-accredited Continuing Education (CME) Units DOH and organization requirements.
- Promotes a practice environment that reduces environmental health risks for staff.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and education for self and others and mentors healthcare team members for the advancement of nursing practices, the profession, and quality healthcare.
- Applies the principles of professional codes of ethics that ensure individual rights in all areas of Practice.

- 2 years of experience post certification in the related field
