Job purpose:

Responsible for handling the process of chargebacks in a company. investigates, resolves, and disputes chargebacks to minimize financial losses for the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Chargeback & Dispute Management: Oversee the end-to-end handling of chargebacks, disputes, claims, and complaints, ensuring timely investigation, documentation, and resolution within SLA and card scheme rules.
  • Merchant Issue Resolution: Manage and prioritize merchant-related issues, particularly payout concerns, ensuring prompt troubleshooting and resolution to minimize operational and financial impact.
  • Process Compliance & Control: Ensure adherence to operational checklists, internal controls, and payment network regulations to mitigate financial risk and maintain compliance.
  • Chargeback Prevention & Process Improvement: Identify trends and opportunities to enhance dispute prevention strategies and streamline chargeback handling processes.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Communicate and collaborate with internal teams, merchants, banks, and card schemes to resolve disputes and operational issues effectively.
  • Fraud & Risk Escalation: Detect potentially fraudulent activities within disputes and escalate to the relevant internal departments for further investigation.
  • Reporting & Performance Monitoring: Analyze dispute and complaint trends, maintain accurate records, and generate reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement.

Must have technical/professional qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Fin-tech or banks background is a must.
  • Proven experience as a Chargeback Specialist or similar role in a financial or e-commerce setting.
  • Knowledge of scheme regulations; VISA, Mastercard and AMEX is a must.
  • Knowledge of payment processing systems, card network rules, and regulations.
  • Experience in managing chargebacks, fraud detection, and prevention techniques.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office applications and other relevant software
