Job Opening: Chief Accountant Laith Al Obaidi Group

Location: [UAE/Dubai]

Job Summary

Laith Al Obaidi Group is a leading name in the automotive and trading industry, The Chief Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS), and preparing accurate financial statements and reports. This role supervises the accounting team and supports financial planning and audits across the group.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Accounting & Financial Reporting

Oversee the full accounting cycle including General Ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and fixed assets.

Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.

Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with IFRS and company policies.

Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations where applicable.

2. Compliance, Audit & Internal Controls

Ensure compliance with local tax regulations (VAT, income tax, Zakat where applicable).

Maintain and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Coordinate with internal and external auditors and respond to audit findings.

Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for all transactions.

3. Budgeting & Financial Analysis Support

Support the Finance Manager in budget preparation and financial forecasting.

Monitor actual performance versus budget and analyze variances.

Assist in preparing management reports and financial analysis.

4. Cash, Banking & Treasury Oversight

Supervise cash management, bank reconciliations, and payment processing.

Review bank facilities, post-dated cheques (PDCs), and cash flow reports.

Ensure accurate recording of bank transactions and financing activities.

5. Team Leadership & Supervision

Supervise and guide accountants and accounting staff.

Review team performance and ensure adherence to deadlines and quality standards.

Provide training and support to enhance accounting skills and IFRS knowledge.

6. Systems & Process Improvement

Ensure effective use of ERP and accounting systems.

Review accounting workflows and recommend process improvements.

Support digital transformation initiatives related to accounting and reporting.

  • Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Professional certification preferred: CPA, CMA, ACCA.
  • Minimum 710 years of accounting experience, including supervisory roles.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, taxation, and accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel; Power BI is an advantage.
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
