Job Purpose:
To supervise and manage daily accounting operations within the hotel with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring full compliance with approved accounting standards and financial policies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supervision of Daily Accounting Operations:
- Review and monitor daily journal entries and accounting transactions (revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities).
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with approved accounting standards (IFRS or equivalent).
- Verify the completeness and accuracy of financial documents prior to posting.
2. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare periodic financial reports (daily, weekly, and monthly) related to revenues, cash flow, expenses, and budgets.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in coordination with the General Accountant and Director of Finance.
- Analyze variances between actual results and budgeted figures and provide recommendations.
3. Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:
- Supervise the reconciliation of vendor and customer accounts and ensure accuracy of balances.
- Monitor collections and payments, ensuring compliance with agreed payment and collection schedules.
- Review bank statements and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
4. Financial Compliance and Internal Control:
- Ensure adherence to the company's and hotel's approved financial policies and procedures.
- Implement and maintain internal control systems over financial and cash operations.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during periodic audit processes.
5. Supervision of the Accounting Team:
- Lead, train, and supervise the accounting team, distributing daily tasks to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Review the work of accountants and ensure compliance with deadlines and performance standards.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting procedures and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory accounting role within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems (preferably Oracle, SAP, or hotel systems such as Fidelio/Opera).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis.
- Good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local tax regulations.
