Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Construction Sector/Real Estate

A leading contracting group is seeking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team.
The CFO will oversee the full financial function of a Construction Division comprising multiple entities operating within the core contracting business. This role is instrumental in driving financial performance, liquidity management, banking strategy, and long-term sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with business objectives
- Lead long-term planning, forecasting, and scenario modelling
- Provide commercial insight to support executive decision-making
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Oversee liquidity across multiple live projects
- Optimize receivables, payables, subcontractor payments, and project cash cycles
- Implement strong cash management controls
Banking & Financial Facilities
- Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions
- Negotiate and manage project financing, working capital facilities, overdrafts, term loans, guarantees, and bonds
- Ensure covenant compliance and facility optimization
Revenue & Cost Recognition
- Oversee IFRS 15 / Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting
- Review WIP, project costing, claims, variations, and margin analysis
- Ensure accurate financial representation of project performance
ERP & Systems Leadership
- Lead implementation and optimization of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, BuildSmart, etc.)
- Drive automation, reporting enhancements, and financial dashboards
Governance & Team Leadership
- Strengthen internal controls and financial governance
- Lead and develop finance and project accounting teams
Candidate Profile
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA / ACCA / CMA / CA preferred)
- 1015+ years of experience, including 5+ years in senior finance leadership within construction or contracting
- Strong experience managing multi-project cash flow environments
- Proven track record in banking negotiations and facility management
- Deep understanding of project-based ERP systems
- Strong commercial acumen with executive presence
