Overview
We are seeking a business-oriented Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead the overall risk management function for Dubai.
This role focuses on end-to-end risk management across trading, financial crime, and product risk, ensuring that the company operates within its defined risk appetite while supporting business growth.
Unlike traditional compliance-heavy roles, this position emphasizes risk identification, risk tolerance calibration, and real-time risk control execution, particularly in the context of digital assets and trading environments.
What You'll Do
- Establish and lead the company's enterprise-wide risk management framework, covering: Trading and market risk ,Product and operational risk
- Define, review, and continuously optimize the risk appetite framework in alignment with business strategy
- Monitor risk activities to ensure compliance with internal risk policies, business objectives, and applicable regulatory expectations (such as the VARA framework)
- Partner with senior leadership and the Board to support risk-informed strategic decision-making
- Build and enhance risk control mechanisms, including: Transaction monitoring and risk indicators ,Market surveillance controls ,Product risk assessment frameworks
- Identify emerging risks in crypto trading, product design, and operations, and implement mitigation strategies
- Strengthen internal control systems and ensure effective risk governance across functions
What We're Looking For
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management, preferably within financial institutions or fintech companies
- At least 2 years of experience in the crypto / digital asset industry
- Strong exposure to trading-related risks, financial crime risks, and product risk management
Core Competencies
- Deep understanding of: Risk management frameworks and risk appetite setting,Internal controls and risk governance structures
- Hands-on experience in: Designing and implementing risk frameworks ,Monitoring and managing risk exposure in dynamic environments
- Strong knowledge of: Market surveillance and transaction-related risk controls,AML-related risk from a risk management perspective (not purely compliance)
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a crypto exchange, trading platform, or high-frequency trading environment
- Familiarity with risk systems, trading surveillance tools, or real-time risk monitoring frameworks
- Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams on risk control implementation
- Exposure to UAE / VARA regulatory environment
