Our client, a sovereign investment vehicle based in one of the leading GCC countries, is seeking a Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to establish and lead a comprehensive, enterprisewide risk function. This is a pivotal Csuite role responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously enhancing the firm's investment and enterprise risk frameworks as it scales its multiasset platform. The position plays a strategic role in strengthening risk culture, safeguarding capital, and enabling disciplined investment decisionmaking across public and private markets, with particular emphasis on private market investment risk
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain an enterprisewide risk framework covering investment, operational, strategic, financial, and regulatory risks
- Define and embed risk appetite, limits, and tolerances across all investment and governance processes
- Lead risk identification, assessment, scenario analysis, and stresstesting, ensuring timely insights for senior leadership and investment committees
- Oversee portfoliolevel risk aggregation, including crossasset exposures, correlations, and concentration risks
- Establish and enhance risk measurement tools, analytics, and reporting capabilities across market, credit, and liquidity risks
- Oversee internal controls, operational risk management, business continuity planning, and resilience frameworks
- Serve as an independent voice in governance forums, providing challenge and input into major investment decisions and strategic initiatives
- Manage regulatory and audit engagement while ensuring full compliance with applicable standards
- Build, lead, and mentor a highperforming risk team, fostering a proactive, highstandards risk culture
- Drive continuous improvement of risk systems, data infrastructure, and enterprise reporting
Key Requirements
- 15+ years of relevant investment and enterprise risk experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles within asset management, sovereign investment, or institutional investment environments
- Proven ability to design and evolve enterprisewide risk and resilience frameworks in regulated, multiasset investment organizations
- Strong technical expertise in investment risk assessment, scenario analysis, stress testing, portfolio aggregation, and risk reporting
- Experience engaging with regulators, auditors, and senior stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA / Master's in Finance) or professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA) preferred
- Strong leadership capability, with experience building and developing highperforming risk teams
