Civil 3D - Draughtsman

About this role:

Technical Drafting and Design

Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings for landscape, infrastructure, and site development projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Generate plans, sections, profiles, and details for grading, road layouts, utilities, stormwater drainage, and irrigation networks.

Produce accurate landscape construction drawings, including hardscape and softscape elements.

Modelling and Surface Creation

Create and manage digital terrain models (DTM), surfaces, alignments, corridors, and pipe networks in Civil 3D.

Develop cut/fill analysis, grading plans, and slope analysis for landscape contouring and earthworks planning.

Ensure models are optimized and well-structured for collaboration and file sharing.

Documentation and File Management

Prepare and organize drawing packages for client submissions, authority approvals, and site use.

Maintain up-to-date CAD standards, layer management, file naming, and drawing protocols in line with company guidelines.

Support in compiling as-built drawings, shop drawings, and record documentation for project closeout.

Coordination and Collaboration

Collaborate with landscape architects, engineers, and project managers to understand design intent and incorporate feedback.

Coordinate with MEP, civil, and structural teams to ensure drawing accuracy and avoid clashes or design conflicts.

Incorporate redlines and revisions accurately and efficiently based on review comments.

Quality Control and Standards

Ensure all drawings adhere to project specifications, client requirements, and municipal/regulatory standards.

Conduct self-checks and peer reviews to ensure precision, clarity, and consistency across drawing sets.

Follow best practices for file organization, version control, and drawing archiving.

Software Use and Development

Utilize advanced features of AutoCAD Civil 3D, including dynamic blocks, labels, and data shortcuts.

Stay updated with the latest tools, plugins, and drafting standards in landscape and civil engineering projects.

Support implementation of BIM/CAD workflows where applicable.

Project Support

Contribute to tender drawing preparation, quantity take-offs, and design presentations.

Assist with drawing updates during construction to reflect site conditions and change orders.

Support field teams with clear, accurate, and timely drawings to guide execution.

Qualifications:

• Landscaping experience is a must
• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting Technology, Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 36 years of experience as a Draughtsman in the landscaping, civil infrastructure, or construction industry.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for creating topographic models, grading plans, utility layouts, and drainage networks.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for creating topographic models, grading plans, utility layouts, and drainage networks.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related drafting tools (e.g., Navisworks, InfraWorks, ReCap)
• Familiarity with GIS platforms, Revit, or BIM-related tools is a plus
• Competent in Microsoft Office for report and schedule coordination
• High level of accuracy in detailing, scaling, and dimensioning
• Strong analytical ability to interpret engineering and architectural drawings and translate concepts into working designs
• Capable of conducting clash checks and identifying design inconsistencies
• Effective communication skills to liaise with landscape architects, engineers, and site teams
• Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions and convert them into high-quality drawings
• Proactive in seeking clarification, providing feedback, and supporting design revisions
• Excellent time management skills to handle multiple drawings and deadlines across concurrent projects
• Ability to prioritize tasks, track revisions, and maintain drawing records systematically
• Skilled in document control and version management of CAD files
