We are currently recruiting a Civil Works Design Coordinator for a period of 12 months for our client based in Dubai, UAE.
Job Summary:
This position will manage and coordinate civil works design activities for high-voltage substation projects. This role involves working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with project requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Scheduling
- Establish and follow up on the Civil Works Design planning to meet and improve project deadlines.
2. Interfaces Management
- Coordinate timely interface data exchange between various designers (Structural/Architectural, HVAC, Lighting, Fire Protection, Electrical, etc.).
- Verify and scrutinize validity of interface data.
3. Civil Work Drawing Management
- Prepare provisional drawing list and manage follow-up in liaison with Electrical Design Coordinator.
- Monitor forecasted/actual drawing issuance dates and assist CW PM in obtaining client/consultant approvals.
- Ensure proper document control for drawings dispatch.
4. Civil Work Purchasing: Design
- Assist CW PM in selection, negotiation, and contracting with local design subcontractors to meet budget and deadlines.
- Validate and submit monthly progress reports of design subcontractors.
5. Civil Work Design
- Control and coordinate CW design to minimize construction costs while meeting contract requirements.
- Initiate, report, and follow up on design modifications during engineering or construction stages.
6. Civil Work Risk and Opportunities
- Highlight any design deviation, assumption, or delay impacting schedule or cost.
- Assist CW PM in identifying potential savings through value engineering.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture (or equivalent).
- 7-10 years of experience in civil works design or construction (preferably design side).
- Experience with HV substations is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of civil works interfaces and UAE standards.
- Proficient in MS Excel, MS Project, and other relevant tools.
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
