Cloud Engineer

(Romania & Saudi Arabia | Freelance / Contractor Opportunity)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to support and manage our client's cloud platforms across Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on the delivery, operation, and continuous optimization of cloud services, including but not limited to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Alibaba Cloud, within missioncritical environments.

The successful candidate will ensure the optimal operation of cloud systems throughout the project duration, working closely with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable cloud solutions. Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory.

Scope of the Role

• Ensure the continuous availability, stability, and performance of cloud platforms (Google, Alibaba)
• Support cloud environments throughout the full service lifecycle, from deployment to daytoday operations
• Collaborate with engineering, SRE, and operations teams to maintain operational excellence

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure and services
• Ensure the optimal operation of cloud systems across all project phases
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation frameworks
• Configure and manage cloud networking, security, and access controls
• Monitor cloud environments, manage alerts, and support troubleshooting and incident resolution
• Optimize cloud performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
• Support cloud migrations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with operational, security, and availability standards
• Document cloud architectures, operational procedures, and technical best practices

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role
• Strong handson experience with at least one of the following cloud platforms:
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Alibaba Cloud
• Huawei Cloud
• Solid understanding of cloud architecture, automation, and distributed systems
• Mandatory fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written)
• Experience working in multicultural, geographically distributed environments, including the Middle East and Europe
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problemsolving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
