Job Description
The Cloud Solutions Architect is responsible for designing and delivering scalable, secure, and resilient cloud architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role focuses on enabling organizations to migrate, modernize, and optimize their workloads on the cloud by defining architecture strategies, implementing cloud foundations, and enabling DevOps practices that support automated and reliable delivery.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Design end-to-end cloud architectures on Google Cloud Platform supporting enterprise workloads and cloud-native applications
- Lead workload migration from on-premise or other cloud platforms to Google Cloud using structured migration frameworks and best practices.
- Define DevOps and platform engineering architectures including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and release management
- Define migration strategies including rehost, replatform, refactor, rebuild, and replace approaches
- Design and implement cloud landing zones aligned with security, governance, and compliance requirements
- Architect scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions leveraging GCP services such as Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, GKE, and Cloud Run
- Lead migration assessments including application discovery, dependency mapping, and migration wave planning
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement Infrastructure-as-Code using tools such as Terraform
- Ensure operational readiness through monitoring, logging, and reliability best practices
- Provide technical leadership and architecture guidance throughout cloud migration and modernization programs
- Support pre-sales activities including architecture workshops, and technical proposal development
- Contribute to internal capability development, best practices, and reusable architecture patterns
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or cloud consulting roles
- Strong experience designing solutions on Google Cloud Platform
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification
- Experience leading enterprise workload migrations to public cloud environments
- Experience implementing DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure including compute, storage, networking, and identity management
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (GKE preferred)
- Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or similar tools
- Strong understanding of cloud networking including VPC design, hybrid connectivity, and security controls
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present architecture solutions to technical and business stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of cloud network architecture including the DR and cloud services and replication methodologies
- Deep expertise in core infrastructure services (e.g. AD, DNS, DHCP, ADFS)
- Experience with automated infrastructure discovery and application dependency mapping tools
- Knowledge of cloud cost management and optimization strategies, including FinOps principles
- Familiarity with agile software development practices, DevSecOps integration, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins)
- Familiarity with Database technologies (e.g. Oracle, SAP)
- Additional architecture certifications in AWS or Azure (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
- Knowledge of local and international compliance and regulatory frameworks (NCA, SAMA, ISO 27001)
- Experience in a client-facing, consulting role is highly desirable
- Experience with observability and monitoring platforms
- Experience with application modernization and containerized workloads
