College of Nursing and Midwifery Faculty

Description

Post will be held by an academic with a sustained track record within nursing and/or midwifery who is able to contribute to learning and teaching, research, knowledge transfer and nursing practice, to the benefit of students, the College and the University, and to conduct duties such as Course or Program Director, and activities associated with recruitment, internationalization and student experience. The appointee would be expected to carry out core activities in three areas: learning and teaching; research and knowledge transfer; administration, management and leadership. Candidates will be expected to deliver higher-level achievements in at least two of these areas, demonstrating national and international impact in nursing.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Midwifery (essential)

Higher research degree in academic field of study including Master’s in Nursing / Midwifery/Health Related Discipline (desirable) .

PhD or equivalent in nursing or relevnt field from an accredited institution (essential).

Evidence of ability to meet the teaching needs of undergraduate and graduate students (essential).

Clinical experience in nursing practice (essential).

Evidence of undertaking graduate student research supervision in the subject area (desirable).

Specific Criteria

Professor Rank: 10 years’ experience post PhD with 12 publications. Experience as Associate Professor for at least 5 years or currently holding position of Full professor in recognized Higher Education Institute.

Associate Professor Rank: 5 years’ experience post PhD with 8 publications. Full-time academic appointment as Assistant Professor for at least five years in a recognized academic institution or currently holding position of Associate Professor.

Assistant Professor: PhD or equivalent with 5 publications. Full-time academic appointment as Lecturer for at least five years in a recognized academic institution or currently holding position of Assistant Professor.

Lecturers: Lecturers will normally hold a minimum of a Master’s degree and where applicable hold a Specialist status or equivalent.
