Job Description

The Communication Coordinator supports the planning and execution of all communication activities related to a major football tournament. The role ensures consistent messaging, effective media relations, and smooth information flow between event organizers, teams, media representatives, sponsors, and key stakeholders.


This position plays a critical role in maintaining the event's public image, supporting media operations, and enhancing fan engagement across traditional and digital platforms.



Key Responsibilities


1. Media & Press Operations



  • Assist in organizing press conferences, mixed zones, and media briefings

  • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and official statements

  • Maintain media contact databases and accreditation records

  • Coordinate interview requests and media appearances

  • Support match-day media operations and press logistics


2. Content & Communications



  • Prepare internal and external communication materials

  • Coordinate with digital teams for website and social media updates

  • Monitor media coverage and compile daily media monitoring reports

  • Ensure brand and messaging consistency across all platforms


3. Stakeholder Communication



  • Liaise with participating teams, organizing committees, sponsors, and partners

  • Support crisis communication procedures when required

  • Facilitate communication flow between event departments


4. Digital & Social Media Support



  • Assist in publishing real-time match updates

  • Monitor social media engagement and escalate inquiries when necessary

  • Track digital engagement metrics and performance analytics


5. Administrative & Reporting Support



  • Maintain communication schedules and calendars

  • Support documentation, archiving, and reporting processes

  • Assist in preparation of communication plans and post-event evaluation reports



Qualifications & Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field

  • 2-4 years of experience in communications, preferably in sports or large-scale events

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are an advantage)

  • Strong understanding of media operations and digital communication platforms

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, live event environment

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and match days

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media management tools
