Job Description

Remote | Global

Flexible schedule (full-time or part-time)

This is a rare opportunity to lead communications and fundraising efforts and shape the future of a global and fast-growing education technology nonprofit. Success in this role will directly and quickly translate into improved learning and life outcomes for millions of students worldwide.

About Darsel

Darsel is a global education technology nonprofit (501c3) focused on improving math learning outcomes and supporting cognitive development for primary and secondary school students in low- and middle-income countries.

We build accessible AI-powered learning tools, such as WhatsApp chatbots, that help students learn math and provide support to teachers. We partner closely with governments and school systems to scale our solutions and reach the world's most vulnerable learners.

Darsel has helped 300,000+ students learn math since launching from Harvard and Stanford in 2021, largely as a result of government partnerships in Jordan, India, and Nigeria. We're on track to meaningfully impact millions of students in the coming years.

Darsel is serious about impact, evidence, and scale. We recently launched a large-scale RCT with J-PAL after three internal RCTs positioned Darsel as one of the most cost-effective education interventions globally.

We're backed by some of the world's top accelerators and funders, including Y Combinator, Fast Forward, LSE 100x, Google, Cisco Foundation, Mulago Foundation, and the WISE Prize for Education.

Darsel is a global, remote-first organization. We value independence and flexibility, and mostly work asynchronously.

The Role

Darsel is seeking a Communications & Fundraising Manager to support our global communications efforts and to advance our work in securing and expanding partnerships with governments, foundations, corporations, and individual donors. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape Darsel's communications and fundraising strategy, tell our story to global audiences, and unlock the resources needed to scale our impact for millions of students in low- and middle-income countries.

The Communications & Fundraising Manager will work closely with Darsel's founder and CEO (ex-McKinsey, MIT, Harvard, Stanford), and the position involves a broad range of strategic and operational responsibilities, including:

Conducting research to identify, evaluate, and prioritize prospective funding opportunities across individual, foundation, and corporate donors based on alignment with Darsel's mission and priorities.

Managing grant cycles, from drafting grant applicationsand developing new proposals to fulfilling reporting and compliance requirements for existing and new donors.

Managing Darsel's digital communications by setting content strategy, maintaining the content calendar, overseeing publishing across channels, and running targeted digital campaigns.

Creating high-quality communications materials for fundraising, external audiences, and internal use, including emails, newsletters, presentations, brochures, videos, blogs, and social media content.

Establishing and refining systems and processes to facilitate all aspects of communications and fundraising.

About You

Mission-driven and deeply motivated by Darsel's goal to improve learning outcomes for millions of students in low- and middle-income countries.

Tech-savvy and curious, with an ability to meaningfully engage in discussions about technology and AI in education.

World-class communicator, able to clearly, concisely, and persuasively articulate ideas to diverse stakeholders in writing, presentations, and conversations.

Bias to action, with a can-do attitude, a belief that no task is too small or too large, and the ability to quickly learn whatever is needed to get the job done.

Highly self-driven and proactive, able to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with minimal guidance and high autonomy.

Organized and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to manage projects strategically and balance competing priorities independently.

Note: A background in fundraising is helpful, but not necessary. All applicants who are excited about the opportunity are encouraged to apply.
