Job Description

JASARA PMC is seeking an experienced Construction Director (Opera) to oversee the construction management of a prestigious opera house project. This role is vital for ensuring that this iconic project is delivered with the highest standards of quality, safety, and innovation.

The Construction Director will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with architects, engineers, and contractors to achieve the project's ambitious vision. This position requires a dynamic leader who can effectively manage complex logistics, stakeholder relationships, and project execution while adhering to stringent timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage all aspects of the opera house construction, from pre-construction planning to final completion
  • Coordinate with design teams to ensure alignment of project goals and facilitate the implementation of design intent
  • Establish and enforce project timelines, budgets, and quality standards, while proactive management of risks and issues
  • Foster collaboration among diverse groups, including clients, cultural institutions, and governmental entities, to build strong relationships and ensure project alignment
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the construction process
  • Lead the project's procurement process, managing contracts and relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to junior staff and site teams, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the organization
  • Monitor construction progress and prepare regular updates for stakeholders, ensuring transparency and maintaining trust throughout the process

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management; a Master's degree is highly desirable
  • At least 15 years of progressive experience in construction management, specifically with high-profile cultural projects such as opera houses or theaters
  • Demonstrable expertise in managing large-scale projects with budgets exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse workforce
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of successful stakeholder engagement
  • In-depth understanding of construction contracts, project management methodologies, and regulatory compliance
  • A passion for the arts and familiarity with the unique requirements of cultural institution projects
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety throughout project execution
  • Experience in international projects and diverse cultural settings is an advantage
  • Proficient in project management software and tools for effective tracking, reporting, and decision-making
