Job Description

Position Overview

A leading tertiary-care hospital in Al Ain is seeking an experienced Consultant Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician to join its Pediatric Emergency Department. The ideal candidate will provide expert, timely, and compassionate emergency care to infants, children, and adolescents, while contributing to departmental leadership, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Expertise

  • Provide comprehensive emergency assessment and management for pediatric patients presenting with:
    • Acute medical, surgical, and trauma conditions
    • Respiratory distress, seizures, dehydration, infections, and allergic reactions
    • Pediatric emergencies requiring resuscitation and stabilization
  • Lead pediatric resuscitation efforts including advanced airway management, vascular access, and lifesaving interventions.
  • Perform emergency procedures such as:
    • Lumbar puncture
    • Fracture reduction and splinting
    • Wound repair
    • Procedural sedation
  • Coordinate care with pediatric subspecialists, surgeons, intensivists, and other emergency physicians.
  • Ensure safe and efficient patient flow within the Pediatric Emergency Department.
Leadership & Departmental Development

  • Contribute to the strategic development of pediatric emergency services.
  • Develop and update clinical pathways, guidelines, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews, audits, and clinical governance activities.
  • Mentor junior doctors, residents, and nursing staff.

Family & Patient Engagement

  • Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and followup instructions clearly and compassionately to families.
  • Promote a childfriendly, culturally sensitive environment.
  • Support families during highstress situations and critical decisionmaking.

Academic & Research Contributions

  • Participate in teaching activities for medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Engage in clinical research, case presentations, and CME programs.
  • Represent the department in conferences and community health initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Medical Degree (MD/MBBS) from a recognized institution.
  • Board Certification in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics with PEM fellowship, or Emergency Medicine with pediatric specialization (e.g., American Board, Royal College, Arab Board, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 810 years of postspecialization experience, including consultantlevel practice.
  • Eligibility for Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH/HAAD) Consultant licensure.
  • Strong clinical expertise in pediatric resuscitation, trauma, and acute care.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
