We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team within our leading Food & Beverages company. The Corporate Lawyer will be responsible for managing all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters of the company, with a strong focus on
international trade, export contracts, and food industry regulations. The role ensures that the company's domestic and cross-border operations are legally sound, commercially protected, and compliant with applicable laws in export destinations.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts including:
- Export and distribution agreements
- Supply and procurement contracts
- Agency, franchise, and logistics agreements
- Provide legal advice on corporate governance, board matters, and shareholder agreements
- Support mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships
- Handle legal aspects of exporting products to international markets (EU, Middle East, Asia, Americas, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, sanctions, and embargoes
- Advise on Incoterms, letters of credit, guarantees, and cross-border payment structures
- Coordinate with external council on foreign jurisdiction legal matters
- Ensure compliance with food safety, labeling, packaging, and quality regulations in domestic and export markets
- Monitor changes in food laws, import regulations, and standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO, local food authorities)
- Oversee licenses, permits, and statutory filings
- Identify legal risks related to contracts, exports, and operations and propose mitigation strategies
- Manage disputes, claims, arbitration, and litigation with customers, suppliers, or authorities
- Coordinate with insurers on liability and product-related claims
- Protect company trademarks, brands, and proprietary information across export markets
- Handle IP registrations, renewals, and infringement issues
- Act as a legal business partner to sales, export, procurement, and operations teams
- Conduct internal legal awareness and compliance training for relevant departments
REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's degree in law (LLB); master's degree preferred
- Licensed to practice law (as applicable by jurisdiction)
- 57 years of experience in corporate/commercial law
- Strong experience in export-oriented businesses, FMCG, or food manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of international trade laws and cross-border contracts
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
- Solid understanding of international business and export regulations
- Commercially minded with practical problem-solving ability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail and strong ethical standards
