Job Summary
The Cost Estimator Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost
estimates for solar and renewable energy projects. This role supports project development,
bidding, and execution by analyzing technical drawings, specifications, and market prices
to ensure projects are delivered within budget while meeting technical and commercial
requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and budgets for solar PV and renewable
energy projects (utility-scale, commercial, and residential).
Analyze engineering drawings, technical specifications, and scope of work to
determine material, labor, and equipment costs.
Conduct site assessments (when required) to evaluate project conditions affecting
cost.
Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations, negotiate pricing, and
recommend cost-effective solutions.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams
during tender and execution stages.
Develop tender pricing, cash flow forecasts, and cost breakdown structures.
Identify cost risks and value engineering opportunities to optimize project
profitability.
Maintain an updated cost database for materials, labor rates, and equipment
specific to solar and renewable projects.
Monitor cost variations and change orders during project execution.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, standards, and client requirements.
Support management with cost analysis reports and financial
recommendations.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy, or
related field).
1-3 years of experience in cost estimation, preferably in solar PV or renewable
energy projects.
Strong understanding of solar PV systems, including modules, inverters, mounting
structures, cabling, and BOS components.
Experience in tendering, EPC projects, and contract pricing.
Familiarity with local authority requirements and grid-connection standards is an
advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in MS Excel, cost estimation tools, and project management software.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
