Business Unit Purpose:
The Data Platform Department is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the organization's core data infrastructure. This includes cloud data platforms, data warehouses and data lakes, Storage and compute environments, batch and real-time data processing systems, scalable data architecture patterns and data governance to ensure the platform is secure, scalable, cost-efficient, and aligned with long-term business growth.
Job Purpose:
The job holder is responsible to lead and strengthen enterprise-wide data governance by establishing frameworks, policies, standards, and stewardship structures that ensure data quality, consistency, security, and compliance. The role drives the adoption of governance practices, oversees critical data management processes, and leverages tools and analytics to provide accurate, trusted, and accessible data that supports informed business decisions and regulatory compliance.
Key Result Areas:
- Define, maintain, and continuously improve the enterprise data governance framework, including data governance policies, standards, procedures, controls, and accountability models.
- Establish and oversee data governance operating models, councils and stewardship structures to ensure clear ownership and effective decision-making.
- Develop and execute roadmaps to improve enterprise data maturity, governance capabilities, and adoption across the Company.
- Govern data quality of all the systems in the Company, including profiling, maintaining data quality scorecards and help the data stewards in issue identification, remediation workflows, and continuous improvement.
- Define data quality metrics, thresholds, and KPIs, track performance and report on data quality, stewardship adoption, and issue resolution effectiveness.
- Oversee the implementation, adoption, and ongoing management of data catalogs, metadata management, data quality, MDM, and governance workflow tools to support effective & efficient decision making, analytics, and operational processes.
- Ensure critical data elements are well-defined, standardized, documented, and easily discoverable across the enterprise.
- Maintain end-to-end data lineage and impact analysis for key business, operational, and regulatory data assets.
- Partner with Legal, Risk, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure data governance practices meet regulatory and audit requirements.
- Define and enforce enterprise standards for data classification, retention, privacy, and access controls to protect sensitive and regulated data.
Knowledge, Skills & Minimum Experience:
Education Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management, Business, or a related field
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years experience in data management & analytics
- Preferred minimum 4 years of experience in a data governance, data quality, metadata management
- Hands-on experience implementing data governance frameworks at scale
Skills:
- Strong understanding of Data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), Data quality management, Metadata, master data, and reference data management
- Familiarity with data platforms (data warehouses, data lakes, cloud ecosystems – Azure/AWS)
- Experience with governance tools (Collibra or Alation or Informatica, Azure Purview)
- Knowledge of data privacy and regulatory requirements relevant to the industry
- Data governance or data management certifications (CDMP or DGSP or DAMA)
