About the role
The Deputy Project Director supports the Project Director in the overall delivery of a major ACWA project, from construction through commissioning and handover. The role acts as the second‑in‑command on site, ensuring day‑to‑day execution aligns with project objectives, schedule, budget, quality, HSE, and stakeholder requirements.
This is a senior leadership role with strong decision‑making authority, particularly critical on large, fast‑track, lender‑financed energy projects.
Duties and responsibilities
- Support project planning, execution, and control
- Manage daily site activities and coordinate EPC contractors, consultants, and internal teams
- Monitor schedule, cost, cashflow, and project risks
- Ensure compliance with quality, HSE, contractual, and ESG standards
- Resolve interfaces across civil, electrical, mechanical, and grid works
- Support stakeholder engagement (authorities, utilities, lenders)
- Prepare progress reports, escalate issues, and support audits and site visits
What are we looking for
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Minimum years of Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience in large-scale infrastructure or renewable energy projects,
- Demonstrated success delivering multi-hundred MW or GW-scale EPC power projects on time and within budget.
- Strong understanding of EPC and Supply contracts, PPAs, regulatory frameworks, and claim management procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of solar PV technology, transmission infrastructure, and utility interconnection.
- Sound financial and commercial acumen; capable of interpreting financial data and managing large project budgets.
- Proficient in project controls tools (Primavera P6, MS Project) and reporting systems.
- Exceptional leadership, decision-making and negotiation skills.
