Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee the end-to-end design management process for construction projects. The role involves coordinating with architects, consultants, and internal teams to ensure design delivery aligns with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing design development for commercial, healthcare, and educational buildings within a design and build environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Manage the design process from Stage 2 through project completion.
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in design and construction management.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and clients to ensure design progress and alignment with project requirements.
- Lead design development during pre-planning and planning stages and manage specialist consultants.
- Conduct and chair design coordination meetings with project stakeholders.
- Support the estimation team by providing design input during project pricing stages.
- Identify and manage project risks, maintaining risk registers and project schedules.
- Develop and maintain Room Data Sheets, design specifications, and supporting documentation.
- Manage design approvals, sign-offs, and internal design reviews.
- Coordinate M&E design processes and obtain necessary technical approvals.
- Oversee the production of specialist designs and subcontractor design elements.
- Manage design changes and instructions prior to project handover to the construction team.
- Prepare monthly design management reports for project review meetings.
- Coordinate with statutory authorities and consultants to obtain planning and regulatory approvals.
- Experience in schools, hospitals, and commercial building projects.
- Proven experience working on design and build projects with multidisciplinary teams.
Drawing & Documentation Management
- Review and manage project drawings and contract documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Control the distribution and management of drawings from consultants and subcontract designers.
- Ensure all drawings and documents are properly maintained within the Workspace document management system.
Commercial Management
- Review design proposals against project budgets and specifications.
- Coordinate with estimators and project surveyors to verify cost compliance and resolve design-related queries.
- Conduct cost checks during feasibility and planning stages.
Quality & Compliance
- Support the preparation of Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and project specifications.
- Maintain proper documentation and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture
- PMI / APM Qualification or Construction Management certification (preferred)
