DevOps Engineer

Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is a publicly funded research institute, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Functional Activities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI.
• Drive GitOps practices for deployment and configuration management.
• Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters (EKS, self-managed, or other distributions).
• Implement and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible.
• Automate operational processes with Bash scripting and other scripting languages.
• Collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth software delivery.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for production systems.
• Manage and optimize deployments in AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, EKS, etc.).
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure system reliability, scalability, and security.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of DevOps practices, automation, and team processes.

Required Knowledge & Experience

• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (deployment, scaling, monitoring).
• Experience with GitOps workflows and tools such as Argo CD or FluxCD.
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipeline development (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
• Strong expertise in Terraform for cloud infrastructure provisioning.
• Experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation.
• Advanced Bash scripting and general Linux systems administration skills.
• Solid experience with AWS cloud services.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and microservices best practices.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).

Education and Certification Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related STEM discipline
• Any DevOps / Development / System Engineering certification would be a plus
