Job Title: Diamond Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Diamond Specialist responsible for sourcing and procuring diamonds, conducting detailed quality checks on diamonds and finished jewellery, and supporting internal teams through diamond-related training. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in diamonds, a sharp eye for quality, and the ability to transfer knowledge clearly to staff.
Key Responsibilities
Diamond Procurement
- Source and procure loose diamonds in line with company quality standards, pricing guidelines, and inventory requirements
- Evaluate suppliers, negotiate pricing, and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Verify diamond certifications (GIA, IGI, HRD, etc.) and ensure authenticity and compliance
- Stay updated on diamond market trends, pricing movements, and supply conditions
Quality Control & Jewellery Inspection
- Conduct thorough quality checks of loose diamonds and finished jewellery
- Assess diamonds based on the 4Cs (Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat) and additional parameters such as fluorescence, symmetry, and polish
- Inspect jewellery for stone setting, craftsmanship, and overall finish
- Identify defects, discrepancies, or quality issues and coordinate corrective actions
- Maintain accurate documentation and quality reports
Training & Knowledge Development
- Train sales, merchandising, and operations staff on diamond fundamentals, grading, and product knowledge
- Conduct regular workshops, refreshers, and onboarding training for new hires
- Support teams with practical guidance on diamond handling, evaluation, and customer communication
- Assist in developing training materials and standard operating procedures
Cross-Functional Support
- Collaborate with design, sales, and merchandising teams to align diamond selection with business needs
- Provide expert input on product development and assortment planning
- Support audits and internal quality compliance processes
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate or equivalent qualification; formal gemology certification (GIA, IGI, HRD, or equivalent) preferred
- 37+ years of hands-on experience in diamond procurement and quality control
- Strong understanding of diamond grading, certification, and market dynamics
- Experience inspecting both loose diamonds and finished jewellery
