The Director General – National Cybersecurity is a high-level executive responsible for establishing and leading the nation's cybersecurity framework, policies, and strategies. This role requires a visionary leader with profound knowledge of cybersecurity risks, digital transformation, and technology governance. The Director General will work closely with government agencies, private sector partners, and international organizations to create coordinated responses to cyber threats and incidents. The successful candidate will drive the development of cybersecurity standards, oversee incident response mechanisms, and ensure compliance with national and international regulations. This position requires exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, and cloud computing as they relate to cybersecurity.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, information technology, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing national cybersecurity strategies, frameworks, and programs that align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Extensive experience in collaborating with government departments, law enforcement, and international agencies to enhance situational awareness and incident response capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity compliance requirements, risk management frameworks (NIST, ISO), and incident response protocols at a national level.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects within tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in making data-driven decisions to mitigate security risks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Capacity to foster relationships and promote collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including industry leaders, policymakers, and academic researchers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve a national cybersecurity strategy that aligns with broader governmental and organizational goals.
  • Oversee the creation and enforcement of cybersecurity policies and standards to protect critical infrastructure and sensitive data across various sectors.
  • Lead national initiatives on cybersecurity awareness and education to promote a culture of security across all levels of society.
  • Coordinate national cybersecurity incident response efforts, ensuring timely communication, investigation, and remediation of incidents.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, industry partners, and international organizations, to enhance collective cybersecurity efforts.
  • Analyze emerging trends in cybersecurity threats and technologies to inform strategic decision-making and policy development.
  • Advocate for funding and resources necessary to support national cybersecurity initiatives and build a highly capable cybersecurity workforce.
  • Monitor and report on the efficacy of national cybersecurity programs and present findings to government officials and other stakeholders.
