Pennell Hart is a leading Legal & Compliance Executive Search firm placing professionals across the GCC. Our client, a leading technology company based in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced and driven Compliance Director to lead and embed its newly established Compliance Function.
The Compliance Director will lead a small team and will be responsible for driving the implementation of a robust compliance program across the organisation, maintaining best-in-class compliance standards.
The Compliance Director will report to the Group Head of Legal.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Compliance Function, including direct line management of a Senior Manager / Manager.
- Drive the implementation and embedding of the compliance framework across all business units.
- Oversee the maintenance, review, and development of the organisation's compliance policies and procedures.
- Monitor regulatory developments across all applicable legal frameworks and ensure the business remains up to date and compliant.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for compliance matters across the organisation, providing guidance to senior leadership and the business.
- Build and maintain a culture of compliance through targeted training, awareness programmes, and engagement with internal stakeholders.
- Manage compliance risk, reporting, and escalation processes, ensuring appropriate oversight at Board and leadership level.
- Liaise with external regulators, legal counsel, and advisors as required.
Candidate Profile
- Significant experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory affairs, ideally within a regulated industry, ideally technology.
- Demonstrable track record of building, managing, or embedding compliance frameworks within complex organisations.
- Strong understanding of corporate compliance best practices; familiarity with UAE regulatory requirements is a significant advantage.
- Experience with or exposure to regulated technical sectors, including aerospace, defence, drones, or emerging technologies is advantageous but not required.
- A qualified lawyer or compliance professional with equivalent technical skills is preferred.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Full Arabic language proficiency (written and spoken) is highly advantageous but not essential.
