Job Purpose:
To provide strategic leadership, manage operations, and ensure financial sustainability
Key Result Areas:
- Develop and execute the museum's overall operational strategy, ensuring alignment with long-term institutional goals and cultural sector trends and to position the museum as a global cultural leader
- Represent the museum at the highest level, engaging with key stakeholders, the board of directors, and external partners to secure support, funding, and collaborative opportunities
- Serve as a key representative for the museum at national and international forums, conferences, and cultural institutions, enhancing the museum's reputation and expanding its network of influence
- Manage museum operations, including administration, visitor services, curatorial, AV/IT, security, and maintenance
- Ensure that the museum complies with all regulatory, legal, and ethical standards, implementing risk management strategies to protect the museum's assets and reputation
- Oversee and lead the integration of innovative technology solutions, including digital and interactive exhibits, to enhance museum operations and the visitor experience
- Lead the development and management of the museum's financial plan, ensuring long-term fiscal sustainability through budget management, resource optimization, and financial reporting
- Lead, mentor, and develop the senior management team across departments, ensuring cross-departmental collaboration and operational alignment with strategic objectives
- Direct the development of visitor service strategies that prioritize an exceptional visitor experience, driving footfall and engagement while ensuring accessibility and inclusivity
- Oversee the planning and execution of exhibitions, educational programs, and events, ensuring they align with the museum's vision and enhance visitor engagement
- Develop and implement strategies for sustainable growth, including environmental sustainability initiatives, capital projects, and long-term organizational development
- Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Master's degree in Museum Studies, Business Administration, Arts Policy and Management, Cultural Studies, or a related field; PhD is an advantage
- 8 years of relevant full-time work experience in museum operations, cultural institution management, or a relevant field, 5 of which at a senior supervisory level
- Experience developing and executing operational strategies that align with institutional goals
- Experience overseeing diverse departments, including administration, visitor services, curatorial, IT, and security, within a museum or cultural setting
- Experience representing institutions at high-profile national and international forums and engaging with stakeholders to secure partnerships and funding
- Expertise in financial planning, resource allocation, budget planning, resource optimization and operational efficiency
- Proficiency in integrating innovative technologies into museum operations and visitor experiences, including interactive exhibits and cutting-edge digital solutions
- Knowledge of sustainability practices in operations and cultural institution management, including environmental initiatives and capital projects
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
