Job Purpose
The Ministry of Economy and Planning is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Director of Legal Support to lead the provision of comprehensive legal support across all departments and sectors of the Ministry. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with local and international laws and regulations related to economy, trade, and investment, while safeguarding the Ministry's legal interests and supporting a robust and compliant legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with all Ministry operations with applicable local and international laws and regulations.
- Develop, review, and update legal policies and procedures in line with legislative changes.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate potential legal risks affecting the Ministry.
- Enhance the capabilities of the legal team through continuous training and awareness of modern economic and legal developments.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with legal, judicial, and economic institutions
- Review and validate contractual terms to ensure accuracy and protection of the Ministry's interests prior to execution.
- Provide sound legal advice and opinions to departments and employees based on applicable laws and regulations.
- Manage legal disputes and represent the Ministry before courts and relevant authorities.
- Monitor amendments to economic and commercial legislation and communicate updates to concerned stakeholders.
- Organize legal workshops and training programs to strengthen legal awareness across the Ministry.
Qualifications
Bachelor's/Masters degree in law
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree: Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Doctorate degree: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
