Role overview:

TerraPay is seeking a seasoned Director Payments, MENA to spearhead our sales and business development initiatives across the Middle East and North Africa. This leadership role will be central to expanding TerraPay's payments ecosystem in the region, forging strategic partnerships with banks, regulators, and financial institutions, and driving revenue growth through innovative cross-border payment solutions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong network, deep regional expertise, and proven success in scaling fintech or payments businesses.

TerraPay's money movement infrastructure is used by most of the largest remittance companies in the world. A key focus for the company is diversification. This sales leader will target new use cases that can benefit from the same infrastructure, such as payouts from content creation platforms, digital media payouts for royalties or affiliate marketing, insurance claims disbursements, and gig worker payroll. TerraPay is also playing a key role in enabling both banks and mobile wallets to make global payouts through local payment rails. A key part of this role will be building a payouts pipeline of the top banks and mobile wallets in the MENA region.

How you will create impact:

  • Regional Growth Strategy: Define and execute TerraPay's payouts sales strategy across MENA, ensuring alignment with global objectives.
  • Business Development: Identify, pursue, and close high-value opportunities with banks, fintechs, mobile wallets and platforms serving target use cases.
  • Revenue Ownership: Achieve and exceed sales targets, negotiating complex deals and delivering sustainable revenue streams.
  • Partnership Management: Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key stakeholders to accelerate adoption of TerraPay's solutions.
  • Regulatory Engagement: Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to navigate regulatory frameworks and secure necessary approvals.
  • Market Intelligence: Track competitive activity, emerging trends, and regulatory changes to inform TerraPay's regional strategy.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product, operations, and marketing teams to deliver market relevant solutions and seamless client experiences.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and inspire regional sales teams, fostering a culture of performance, collaboration, and innovation.

Essential qualifications:

  • More than 10 years of experience in payments, fintech, or financial services, with at least 5 years in a senior sales/business development role.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and closing complex deals in the MENA region.
  • You have successfully sold payout services to use cases other than remittances.
  • Strong network of senior contacts across banks, fintechs and platforms.
  • Deep understanding of cross-border payments, remittance, and digital financial ecosystems.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with ability to influence at C-suite level.
  • Educational background: MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • Cultural fluency and ability to operate effectively across diverse MENA markets.
