Help amplify Global South voices and transform global narratives
We're looking for a talented Editor to join our growing team at Egab. In this role, you'll connect journalists from the Global South with international media outlets, helping to bring diverse perspectives to global audiences. This is a fully remote position with flexible working hours.
Egab is an Egypt-based startup that empowers local journalists in the Global South to get published in international and regional media. We focus on stories that defy stereotypes and challenge dominant narratives about their communities. With over 2,000 journalists across 100+ countries in the Middle East and Africa, we've helped (in 2025 alone) publish 650 stories in 50+ leading media outlets including The Guardian, The New Humanitarian, BBC, Al Jazeera, CNN, The Economist, and more.
We've spotlighted stories of resilience, innovation, and community strength from across the Global South, generating thousands of dollars in income for local journalists while supporting vital on-the-ground reporting during particularly challenging times. You can see some of the stories published through Egab here: https://www.egab.co/#our-work
In 2021, Egab was selected as a recipient of Google News Initiative's Middle East, Turkey and Africa Innovation Challenge. We then became part of the prestigious 500 Global portfolio in 2022, and received backing from the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) in 2024 and DenVC in 2025.
What Our Journalists and Partners SayFrom our journalists:
What sets Egab apart isn't just its operational framework but its distinctive approach to story conception, selection, and editing. Despite my 25+ years in the field, I'm learning new journalistic formats and styles for the first time. We're also passing these skills on to other colleagues in Gaza. Mohamed Solaimane, Gaza
I've received a lot of knowledge from my pitching and the editors. It's not only shaping me for Egab but for my professional career too. Melanie Joyce Nabukwasi, Uganda
From our media partners:
Egab is a critical link between international newsrooms like ours and local journalists, providing both the editorial support and translation services to make collaboration possible. Working with Egab has been invaluable for our continued coverage of the human impact of Israel's war in the Gaza Strip. Eric Reidy, The New Humanitarian
At the beginning of this year, we had a problem. The Continent is a pan-African publication, but none of us speak Arabic, which makes it a challenge to cover North Africa effectively. Enter Egab. Egab has delivered a number of well reported stories from local journalists in the region, edited and translated to the highest standard. Simon Allison, The Continent
At Egab, we're building a diverse, collaborative team that's passionate about changing media narratives. Our remote-first culture promotes flexibility while maintaining high standards for the work we produce. We provide editors with opportunities for professional growth and the chance to make a meaningful impact on international journalism.
