PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fire Alarm Design Engineer to develop, design, and coordinate fire alarm and life safety systems in compliance with UAE regulations and international standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, authority approval experience, and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Design & Engineering
- Prepare detailed design drawings and calculations for:
- Fire Alarm Systems (Addressable & Conventional)
- Voice Evacuation Systems
- Public Addressing Systems
- Emergency & Exit Lighting Systems
- Ensure all designs comply with:
- UAE Fire & Life Safety Code
- NFPA Standards including:
- NFPA 72 (Fire Alarm Systems)
- NFPA 101 (Means of Egress & Emergency Lighting)
- NFPA 70 (Electrical Systems)
Authority Approvals & Coordination
- Liaise with UAE authorities, including Civil Defense.
- Prepare and submit design documents for authority approvals.
- Address review comments and revise designs accordingly to secure approvals.
Technical Calculations & Documentation
- Perform detailed engineering calculations such as:
- Voltage drop calculations
- Battery backup calculations for emergency lighting
- Loop loading and device capacity analysis
- Lux level calculations
- Prepare and maintain:
- Shop drawings
- As-built drawings
- Material submittals
- Technical datasheets
Coordination with Other Disciplines
- Coordinate with MEP, architectural, and structural teams to ensure integrated design.
- Ensure clash-free designs using BIM tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
Site Support
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning stages.
- Ensure systems are installed as per design intent and authority requirements.
Code Compliance & Updates
- Stay up to date with:
- UAE Fire & Life Safety Code revisions
- NFPA standards and industry best practices
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or Electronics Engineering
- 3–7 years of relevant experience (UAE experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of:
- UAE Fire & Life Safety Code
- NFPA standards (NFPA 72, NFPA 70, NFPA 101)
