Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Design Engineer / Application Engineer Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Switchgear based in Mesaieed, Qatar.

The Design Engineer / Application Engineer will be responsible for the engineering design, schematic development, and application engineering of LV and MV switchgear panels, including power distribution systems, protection schemes, and control circuits. The role involves preparing single line diagrams (SLDs), GA drawings, wiring schematics, and detailed manufacturing drawings using CAD and EPLAN tools, in compliance with IEC and project-specific standards.

Day-to-day responsibilities include close coordination with electrical, mechanical, and production teams, reviewing project specifications, preparing technical submittals, and ensuring correct selection and coordination of switchgear components such as MCCBs, ACBs, VCBs, CTs, VTs, protection relays, busbars, and auxiliaries for LV and MV applications (up to 33kV, as applicable).

The role also involves:

Developing customized switchgear solutions for projects in oil & gas, utilities, infrastructure, and construction sectors

Ensuring design compliance with applicable standards (IEC 61439, IEC 62271, IEC 60947, etc.)

Supporting FAT, internal testing, and technical clarifications with clients and consultants

Maintaining high engineering quality, documentation accuracy, and design consistency throughout the project lifecycle

The Design Engineer / Application Engineer will play a key role in delivering reliable, safe, and optimized LV and MV switchgear power systems, while upholding strong engineering and quality standards

Qualifications>

Proven proficiency in design and application engineering for Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear systems, including power distribution, protection, and control schematics.

Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, with practical application in switchgear panel design, protection coordination, and system integration.

Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or equivalent) for preparing SLDs, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and manufacturing documentation.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to address complex design challenges and optimize engineering solutions.

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, QA/QC, and project teams) while managing multiple tasks and meeting project timelines.

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or a closely related engineering discipline) is mandatory.

Prior experience in switchgear manufacturing, infrastructure projects, oil & gas, utilities, or electrical equipment industries will be considered a strong advantage
