Reports To: Nominated Qatar gas Maintenance Supervisor
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report to the nominated Qatar gas Maintenance Supervisor.
- Ensure compliance at all times with the Qatar gas Permit to Work procedure, Electrical Safety procedure, Environmental Health, Safety and Security procedures, as well as occupational health and safety regulations.
- Conduct toolbox talks for the maintenance crew and ensure safety measures are in place as stipulated in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) prior to starting the job.
- Observe safety hazards, unsafe conditions, and near misses, and report them as per the reporting procedure.
- Direct and provide close onsite supervision of all electrical jobs being performed by the technicians in the assigned area within RG facilities.
- Participate in the troubleshooting and repair of critical electrical equipment during breakdowns, compiling field data for further analysis and investigation.
- Identify common equipment failures and make recommendations for corrective actions.
- Provide accurate maintenance history and closeout reports, maintaining a log of all completed and ongoing work as per company requirements.
- Support other disciplines in the troubleshooting and fault finding of equipment.
Job Specific Requirements:
- Technical Experience: Must have hands-on experience in the preventive and corrective maintenance of the following equipment:
- Power and Distribution Transformers with a primary voltage of at least 33kV.
- Switchgears up to the voltage level of 33kV.
- Induction motors up to the voltage level of 6.6kV.
- Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS) and Battery Chargers (BC).
- Protection relays for Transformers, switchgears, and motors.
- Plant lighting and Earthing systems.
- Switching and LOTO procedures up to the 6.6kV level.
- Technical Skills: Must possess the skills as stipulated below:
- Use of testing equipment, including but not limited to: Multimeter, Insulation Resistance Tester, Transformer Turns Ratio Tester, Digital Low Resistance Ohmmeter, and Voltage Indicator.
- Reading and analyzing single line and wiring diagrams. Ability to use the diagrams to troubleshoot equipment.
- Soft Skills:
- Ability to work effectively in a multinational environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively within the team and with Qatar gas personnel.
- A strong focus on safety is paramount, with practical know-how of permit-to-work systems and lock-out procedures applicable to the LNG, Petrochemical, or continuous process industry.
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Educational Qualifications: Minimum Higher Secondary School Education plus a three-year technical diploma (HNC, HND, or equivalent) in Electrical from a recognized institution.
- Relevant Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of maintenance experience, with at least 5 years in an Electrical Supervisor or Engineer role in a diversified oil & gas processing or petrochemical plant.
- Computer Skills: Computer literate with knowledge of SAP and commonly used Microsoft business software packages required.
- English Language Skills: Good written and oral communication skills in English.
- Specialized Trainings: Must hold Authorized Electrical Person (AEP) certificates issued by electrical institutions or a previous employer.
