Job Purpose
To support the procurement of electrical materials by coordinating with suppliers, negotiating terms, managing delivery schedules, and optimizing costs to meet project requirements efficiently.
Principal Accountabilities
Policies, Processes & Procedures
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance and maintain a productive work environment.
- Implement and uphold safety and security protocols to protect the well-being of all employees and company assets.
Main Duties
- Review supplier bids and proposals to ensure compliance with technical specifications, project requirements, commercial terms, and budget limits.
- Evaluate bids and recommend the most suitable suppliers based on price, quality, delivery capability, and compliance.
- Review technical and commercial terms in supplier contracts to confirm accuracy and alignment with electrical material requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure availability of electrical materials and long-lead items in line with project schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance and recommend improvement actions to ensure quality, reliability, and adherence to delivery commitments.
- Inspect electrical materials delivered to verify quality, condition, and conformity with purchase order specifications.
- Review and validate purchase orders for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with approved terms.
- Track procurement expenditures and support project teams in maintaining cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Follow up with project managers and engineering teams to address issues affecting material availability, delivery, or technical requirements.
- Coordinate with site engineers to forecast construction material requirements and ensure timely delivery to prevent any impact on project progress.
Self-Management
- Take ownership of your learning agenda by identifying development needs in consultation with the strategic Sourcing manager and working towards bridging the gaps through various means beyond just training.
- Understand the competencies relevant to the role and work towards displaying as well as developing these effectively.
- Keep abreast of relevant professional developments, new techniques, and current issues through continued education and professional networks.
Miscellaneous Duties
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the team and overall business objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent
- 5 - 6 Years of relevant experience in Procurement Management as Electrical Engineer
