Job Description

The Engineering Director leads, manages, and oversees all engineering functions, including planning, design, technical execution, and procurement engineering activities across major and minor projects. The role ensures technical integrity, resource optimization, and alignment with company objectives while championing innovation, efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards. This position also plays a key leadership role in developing engineering talent and driving continuous improvement across processes and systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the functional head of the engineering organization, ensuring optimal commercial and technical performance.
  • Develop annual manpower and resource plans, securing required approvals and ensuring adherence to budget.
  • Lead the preparation of engineering input for tenders, including manpower estimation and technical review.
  • Oversee engineering execution across all disciplines, ensuring deliverables meet quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and troubleshooting support on complex engineering challenges, particularly in the oil & gas and energy sectors.
  • Drive the adoption of engineering automation tools and digital enhancements to improve efficiency.
  • Review and validate engineering methodologies, ensuring alignment with established procedures and industry standards.
  • Evaluate project requirements and develop procurement engineering strategies aligned with tender and project needs.
  • Lead vendor prequalification, selection, evaluation, and performance management.
  • Negotiate technical and commercial terms to secure competitive and highquality supply chain outcomes.
  • Oversee development of material estimates and procurement schedules for bids and active projects.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain highcaliber engineering talent.
  • Implement succession planning, conduct performance reviews, and ensure continuous employee capability development.
  • Deliver training programs to enhance engineering competencies and technical standards across the team.
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations, address technical queries, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Foster collaboration across internal functions and external partners to enable smooth project execution.
  • Ensure adherence to HSE requirements across engineering activities.
  • Maintain and enforce engineering quality standards and service levels.
  • Exercise delegated financial authority responsibly, including approval of invoices and payments.
  • Identify, resolve, and escalate operational issues to keep project and departmental objectives on track.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (relevant discipline essential).
  • Advanced certifications or postgraduate studies are an advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • At least 9 years in engineering leadership or managerial roles.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering for Oil & Gas projects.
  • Expertise in engineering design standards, project execution methodologies, and engineering software systems.
  • Ability to manage complex engineering work scopes and evaluate technical solutions.
