Job Title: Environmental Specialist

Job Purpose

To ensure operational and construction compliance with environmental procedures and the ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS). This role requires hands-on experience in implementing, administering, and managing the ISO14001 system, with a primary focus on day-to-day operations and compliance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

1. Environmental Compliance

• Ensure compliance with environmental procedures and ISO14001:2015 requirements in operations and construction.
• Maintain an up-to-date environmental compliance obligations register, identify gaps, and implement updates as needed.

1. Environmental Management System (EMS)

• Lead the administration and daily operations of the ISO14001 system, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance.
• Communicate environmental and HSE information effectively to stakeholders via the HSE Management System.

1. Monitoring, Auditing, and Reporting

• Conduct environmental monitoring, inspections, and audits of operational and construction sites.
• Review Land Use Permit applications to ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
• Track and report contractor environmental performance, including incidents, actions, waste generation, emissions, risk register reviews, KPIs, and training.

1. Environmental Risk Assessment and Outreach

• Participate in environmental risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards.
• Engage in community environmental outreach, including working with students, researchers, and community members.

1. Other Duties

• Perform other applicable tasks and duties as assigned, ensuring alignment with environmental compliance and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience:
• At least 5 years of experience in managing HSE systems, with an emphasis on inspections, audits, and the implementation of ISO14001 management systems.
• Previous experience working in municipalities, universities, heavy industry, or highly regulated organizations is preferred.
• Hands-on expertise in environmental compliance and technical procedures.
• Competencies:
• Proficiency in implementing and administering ISO14001 systems (not just supporting).
• Strong knowledge of Saudi Arabian environmental regulations, including the ability to read and interpret laws.
• Self-motivated with a proven track record in conducting high-quality inspections and audits.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver results to a high standard in a timely manner.
• Effective communication skills in a culturally diverse work environment.
• Project management skills and experience in reporting environmental KPIs and risk management.
