Senior Estimation Engineer is a high-level technical role responsible for determining the total cost of a project to ensure competitive and profitable bidding.
About the Role
Core Responsibilities
- Bidding & Tendering: Lead the full life cycle of the tender process, from initial review of RFP (Request for Proposal) documents to final bid submission.
- Quantity Take-off: Perform or oversee detailed structural, architectural, or MEP quantity take-offs using specialized software.
- Cost Analysis: Calculate direct costs (labor, material, equipment) and indirect costs (preliminaries, overheads, profits, and taxes).
- Subcontractor Management: Source and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet project specifications and Qatar's local standards.
- Value Engineering: Propose alternative materials or methods to reduce costs without compromising quality or safety.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential financial risks in a contract and develop mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- UPDA/MMUP Registration: Grade A certified engineer is desirable issued by the Urban Planning & Development Authority.
Required Skills
- Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Candy (CCS), CostX, PlanSwift, or AutoCAD. High-level Excel skills are mandatory.
- Local Experience: 8–12+ years of experience, with at least 7 years specifically in Qatar Construction Industry.
- Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and the specific tendering procedures of Qatari authorities like Ashghal or Kahramaa.
