Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Faade Engineering Manager to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will bring 20 to 25 years of specialized experience in the faade industry, with a solid background in engineering management and a strong focus on aluminum and glass systems.

The selected candidate will play a key leadership role in delivering exceptional building envelopes for iconic and technically demanding projects. Your deep knowledge of faade and cladding design, materials, and construction methods will be critical to the successful execution of our architectural vision and technical performance standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the allocation and assignment of design teams by Team Leaders, ensuring alignment with project schedules and deliverables.
  • Ensure engineering procedures are clearly understood and effectively implemented across the department.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Estimating teams to define man-hour requirements and project timelines for commercial and complex villa projects prior to tender submission.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of project planning and scheduling activities.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project design schedules to support timely and efficient execution.
  • Ensure departmental objectives are achieved through effective resource planning, team utilization, and task allocation.
  • Monitor team capacity and coordinate with Project Managers to outsource design activities when internal resources are constrained.
  • Prequalify, evaluate, and manage external faade design consultants as needed.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations for engineering department staff, providing constructive feedback and development plans.
  • Drive standardization of design processes and promote product/system simplification to improve manufacturing and installation efficiency.
  • Lead the identification and implementation of technical innovations to enhance system performance and streamline installation.
  • Assess team training needs and coordinate relevant learning and development programs to build technical capabilities.
  • Approve final engineering deliverables prior to submission to clients and issuance of work orders.
  • Review and resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Site Observation Reports (SORs), documenting their impact on man-hours, timelines, and materials.
  • Ensure timely responses and follow-ups on all engineering submittals.
  • Manage and coordinate design changes, value engineering proposals, and project variations, ensuring timely communication of budget and schedule impacts.
  • Review and respond to client RFIs and oversee the generation of supplementary design documentation.
  • Monitor and report on interface issues from bid stage through final as-built documentation.
  • Advise Project and Delivery Managers on the implications of design modifications on overall project timelines and costs.
  • Ensure timely resolution and finalization of client-requested design changes.
  • Actively contribute to and promote Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) initiatives within the department.

Qualifications Summary

  • 2025 years of experience in the glazing and aluminum industry, with a focus on faade, cladding, and steel/aluminum projects
  • Strong technical expertise in glazing systems and aluminum faade design
  • Solid background in engineering management, procurement, and project delivery
  • Proven leadership and ability to manage large-scale projects and multiple teams
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and vendor coordination skills
  • Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices
  • Degree in Engineering or a related field preferred
