Role Overview
The role is responsible for leading the detailed modeling, design development, and documentation of complex faade systems. This includes interpreting architectural, structural, and system drawings to produce precise 3D models, panelization strategies, and shopready documentation using CATIA and AutoCAD. While experience with UHPC/GRC systems is advantageous, the core focus is on delivering accurate, buildable faade models and coordinated assemblies. Responsibilities include generating BOQs, developing preliminary concept sketches, and ensuring all outputs meet project specifications and internal QA/QC standards. The position also requires maintaining drawing logs, coordinating seamlessly with internal teams and external stakeholders, and clearly communicating updates and revisions throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings strong technical drawing capability, a meticulous eye for detail, and the ability to synthesize multidisciplinary inputs into clear, constructible faade design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Facade Design:
- Interpret and analyze architectural, structural, and system drawings to develop accurate engineering design solutions for faade elements and supporting steel/Bracketing/Secondary steel and frameworks.
- Perform detailed 3D modelling, panellization, and secondary steel/bracket design using CATIA, ensuring designs meet structural requirements and project specifications.
- Review structural reports for Panel/Steel thickness and other needs, and engineering sketches to validate design feasibility and translate them into reliable 3D engineering models.
- Produce high-quality 2D fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and engineering details compliant with standards and constructability requirements.
- Develop preliminary design concepts and sketches that align with architectural intent and engineering constraints.
- Generate precise Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and material take-offs required for fabrication and installation.
- Ensure all designs adhere to QA/QC protocols, engineering standards, and project documentation procedures.
- Coordinate with structural engineers, architects, internal design teams, and external clients to resolve technical queries and incorporate approved changes into the design.
- Maintain detailed drawing logs and manage document control to ensure up-to-date design information is shared with all stakeholders.
- Continuously review and refine design outputs to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with project timelines and technical requirements.
Technical Documentation & Fabrication Drawings Packages
- Develop, compile, and maintain complete engineering design packages, including 3D models, 2D drawings, BOQs, specifications, and support documents required for fabrication and construction.
- Prepare detailed technical drawings, shop drawings, and installation documents for facade elements and supporting steel structures in alignment with architectural and structural requirements.
- Ensure all technical documentation adheres to QA/QC standards, project guidelines, and industry codes, maintaining accuracy, clarity, and traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage document control processes, including maintaining drawing logs, version tracking, and proper filing of all design-related documents for quick retrieval and audit compliance.
- Review and incorporate architectural and structural inputs into engineering documentation, ensuring consistency across drawings, models, and technical submissions.
- Prepare and update engineering deliverables such as panellization drawings, bracket details, material take-offs, and assembly instructions.
- Coordinate with design, engineering, and construction teams to ensure documentation reflects the latest approved revisions and resolves technical discrepancies promptly.
- Generate and submit technical documentation packages for client reviews, authority submissions, fabrication, and site execution as required by the project.
- Support the creation of preliminary sketches, concept design documents, and early- stage technical narratives for design validation.
- Ensure timely release of engineering packages aligned with project schedules, delivering high-quality documentation that enables accurate fabrication and smooth installation
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with architectural, structural, and engineering teams to ensure all design inputs are accurately interpreted and integrated into 3D models and technical documents.
- Work with project management, procurement, and construction teams to align engineering deliverables with project schedules, material requirements, and site execution needs.
- Coordinate with quality assurance/quality control teams to ensure all drawings and documents comply with QA/QC protocols and project standards.
- Communicate design changes, revisions, and technical clarifications effectively to all internal and external stakeholders, ensuring consistency across design, production, and installation phases.
Research, Development & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct research on new materials, design methodologies, modeling techniques, and faade engineering technologies to enhance design efficiency and technical accuracy.
- Explore and evaluate innovative facade solutions, steel support systems, and digital engineering tools that can improve product performance and constructability.
- Continuously review and refine internal design standards, templates, and workflows to optimize productivity and minimize errors in engineering deliverables.
- Analyze past project data, learned lessons, and feedback from fabrication/installation teams to develop improvements in panellization strategies, documentation quality, and modeling practices.
- Investigate emerging industry trends, building code updates, and best practices in digital design to ensure the team remains aligned with current and future requirements.
- Propose and implement enhancements to CAD/CAM processes, automation scripts, and modeling techniques to increase speed and reduce manual rework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to pilot new tools or software features, documenting outcomes and integrating successful innovations into the standard workflow.
- Support the development of internal knowledge resources, design guidelines, and technical libraries that contribute to organizational learning.
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and benchmarking studies to strengthen technical competencies and keep the engineering team updated on new technologies.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks, recommending process optimizations, and fostering innovation across design and engineering activities.
