Job Purpose

American International University (AIU) is looking for a dynamic and engaged full-time faculty member for its newly established School of Architecture and Design. We seek an individual who is passionate about teaching and mentoring students, building successful learning environments, and who collaboratively engages with faculty.

AIU invites applicants for a full-time Faculty (Assistant, Associate) appointment in the Graphic Design program. The ideal candidate is an innovative professional who leverages current trends and technologies, including motion graphics and video editing, to deliver relevant classroom experiences. The successful candidate will be a leader and current, active member of the design field, capable of teaching both foundational studio coursework and advanced technical courses.

The candidate will demonstrate high proficiency with standard industry tools, including the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)with specialized expertise in Adobe After Effects for motion graphics and visual effects, Figma for UIUX and Premiere Pro for video editing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach a range of undergraduate courses in Graphic Design, with a focus on both static and dynamic media.
• Develop and design curriculum for courses in areas such as multimedia design, animation, motion graphics, video editing, and core graphic design principles.
• Maintain an active professional and/or research profile in the field of graphic and multimedia design.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
• Participate in school and university service, including committee work and accreditation activities.
• Collaborate effectively with faculty from a variety of disciplines within the School.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Graphic & Web Design, with a significant portfolio demonstrating expertise in motion graphics and video editing.
• High proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite,with advanced, expert-level skills in Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• A commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship.
• Interest and experience working effectively with a diverse university community.
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines.
  

Education and Experience

• Master's or PhD in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, or related field (Required)
• Graphic & Multimedia Design: 5 years (Preferred)
