Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Dammam for Fiber Optic Communications Engineers & Technicians. The role involves installing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic and telecommunications systems, designing and implementing network solutions, and providing VoIP services. The position also includes diagnosing and solving technical issues as part of a team dedicated to maintaining high standards of service.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning: Supervise the laying and fixing of fiber optic cables (underground / aerial).

Fiber Splicing: Perform fiber splicing and jointing (fusion splicing).

Documentation: Prepare technical documentation and network drawings (As-Built Drawings).

Maintenance & Testing: Diagnose and repair faults (troubleshooting); conduct network testing using instruments such as Power Meter and OTDR.

Service Quality: Ensure QoS (Quality of Service) and support system updates.

Project Supervision: Lead site teams, coordinate activities, evaluate suppliers/subcontractors offers, and ensure compliance with technical specifications and standards (ITU-T, TIA/EIA).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Technical Diploma in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 510 years of proven hands-on experience in fiber optic communication systems (FTTH / FTTx).
  • Strong knowledge of fiber installation, fusion splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in using OTDR, Power Meter, and VFL for testing and fault analysis.
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Ethernet).
  • Experience with VoIP systems is an advantage.
  • Ability to read and prepare technical drawings and As-Built documentation.
  • Familiarity with international standards (ITU-T, TIA/EIA).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work on-site and supervise field activities.
  • Valid, certified, or attested experience certificates in the fiber optics field.
