Pleteum specializes in developing AI-based investment and allocation strategies for family offices. We build systematic, research-driven investment systems that combine advanced mathematical modeling, AI-based strategy research, risk analytics, and portfolio optimization.

As we scale our operations in Dubai, we are seeking a Financial Controller to with reference to the CFO take ownership of our financial operations, ensuring that our growth is supported by precise reporting and full compliance with the evolving regulatory landscape in the UAE.

About the Role

As Financial Controller, you will be a key member of our small team. You will be responsible for providing financial integrity and will manage tasks from bookkeeping to tax handling and regulatory reporting as well as ad-hoc tasks. All with guidance and supervision of the CFO.

Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting & Control: Manage timely and accurate monthly and year-end closings, including cash flow analysis.
• Tax Compliance: Lead the management of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax, including assistance to our external accountants in filing returns and optimizing the use of Small Business Relief where applicable.
• Payroll & HR Administration: As a backup to handle payroll through the Wage Protection System (WPS) and ensure compliance with UAE labor laws, including health insurance mandates and end-of-service benefits.
• Audit & Regulatory Liaison: Act as a point of contact for external auditors and government authorities (such as the FTA and MOHRE).
• Budgeting & Cash Management: Develop and maintain project budgets, monitor liquidity, and provide actionable financial insights to support senior management decisions.

Qualifications

• Relevant education within accounting and/or auditing.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in accounting software and expanded Excel skills.
• 3–7 years of experience in an accounting or controller role (ideally within the big 4) within a relevant business.
• Proven experience navigating the UAE's regulatory and tax environment (Corporate Tax, VAT, and WPS).

Preferred Skills

• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• An independent mindset and the ability to build and improve processes from scratch.
• Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
