Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Fire and Life Safety Engineer (FLS) to be a part of design team involved in design & delivery of complex projects. The ideal candidate will support FLS project team from concept through construction drawings, contributing to design development, drafting, and coordination with clients, consultants, and contractors as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing Fire & Life Safety design drawings, reports, and models using AutoCAD, Revit, and PowerPoint (for reporting).
- Support the design team throughout conceptual, schematic, and detailed design phases.
- Conduct research on applicable building codes and international standards to ensure compliance and provide evidence-based support.
- Participate in building design development with a focus on fire and life safety from initial concept through project completion.
- Apply relevant codes and standards, including UAE FLS Code, KSA FLS Code, NFPA 101, associated NFPA codes, IBC, and others.
- Demonstrate understanding of fire dynamics principles and conduct fire-related risk assessments.
- Review architectural drawings to verify compliance with fire safety requirements.
- Develop fire safety mark-ups such as means of egress plans and fire compartmentation layouts.
- Collaborate with architects, consultants, and contractors during design reviews and project coordination meetings.
- Participate in project meetings, resolve technical issues, and provide expert input.
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulations, zoning laws, and safety legislation.
- Ensure strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, PDF tools, and MS Word for documentation and coordination
Qualifications
- Fresh to 5 years of experience in Fire & Life Safety projects within the Gulf—preferably UAE.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Engineering, Architecture, or an equivalent discipline.
- Prior experience in a design consultancy environment is preferred.
- Solid knowledge of fire protection standards, including but not limited to:
- NFPA 1, NFPA 101, NFPA 5000, NFPA 12, NFPA 13, NFPA 70, NFPA 72
- UAE Fire Life Safety Code of Practice
- Saudi Building Code – SBC 201 & SBC 801
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to support multiple complex projects simultaneously.
