Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Fleet Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair operations of the company's fleet to ensure maximum availability, reliability, and compliance with safety standards. This role involves supervising maintenance teams, coordinating with service providers, tracking vehicle performance, and ensuring preventive maintenance schedules are followed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Maintenance Management:
  • Plan and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities for the entire fleet.
  • Ensure all vehicles are serviced on time and in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Maintain records of maintenance history, costs, and downtime.
  • Team Supervision:
  • Lead and manage the fleet maintenance team, including technicians and workshop staff.
  • Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Fleet Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Monitor fleet performance and generate reports on fuel consumption, vehicle utilization, maintenance costs, and operational efficiency.
  • Track KPIs related to fleet availability and breakdown frequency.
  • Vendor & Spare Parts Management:
  • Coordinate with external workshops and spare parts suppliers to ensure timely service and delivery.
  • Evaluate and negotiate with service providers to optimize costs and service quality.
  • Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure all vehicles comply with local traffic laws, insurance policies, and company safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of vehicles and maintenance facilities.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Recommend improvements to reduce maintenance costs and enhance vehicle lifespan.
  • Stay updated with new technologies and best practices in fleet management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 47 years of experience in fleet maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, heavy trucks, and light commercial vehicles.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in using fleet management systems and MS Office.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
