Operations Support Officer Marine & Shipping
Location: New Cairo | On-site
Our client is a market-leading producer and trader of Urea and Ammonia, operating a regional hub in Egypt and working closely with state energy entities and global industry investors. Known for operational excellence, disciplined execution, and global reach, the organization is expanding its operations team and seeking a motivated Operations Support Officer to support marine and shipping activities.
Job Purpose
Support and execute day-to-day marine and shipping operations by maintaining accurate CTRM and Marine ERP data, coordinating freight payments and invoicing, and delivering high-discipline back-office operational support across Urea, Ammonia, dry bulk, tanker, and container shipments.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily marine shipping operations for dry bulk, tanker, and container cargoes.
- Coordinate in-house vessel operations from fixture through loading and final discharge.
- Support chartering and trading desks during fixture execution and voyage operations.
- Liaise with shipbrokers, traders, terminals, agents, and port authorities to ensure smooth vessel clearances.
- Maintain accurate and timely updates within CTRM systems and Marine ERP platforms.
- Monitor vessel schedules, laycan, port line-ups, and cargo movements to prevent operational delays.
- Coordinate freight, port costs, payments, invoicing, and cost tracking with strict follow-up.
- Ensure vessels operate in compliance with safety, technical, and Company SMS standards.
- Prepare voyage estimates including distance, fuel consumption, and time calculations.
- Support logistics analysis, trade documentation, and reporting activities.
- Maintain high standards of data accuracy, compliance, and administrative discipline.
- Perform effectively under pressure while meeting tight operational deadlines.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
- Maritime Business or Maritime Law is a strong advantage.
- Experience
- 13 years of hands-on experience in marine, shipping, or freight operations (mandatory).
Exposure to:
- Dry bulk and/or tanker operations (essential)
- Container shipping operations (preferred)
- Experience gained within:
- Freight forwarders or shipping lines
- Commodity trading houses
- Fertilizer, chemical, energy, or FMCG logistics environments
- Additional preferred backgrounds to strengthen the pipeline:
- Vessel trading organizations.
- Vessel operations with focus on bulk shipments (dry bulk carriers and/or gas carriers).
- Fertilizer producing and/or fertilizer trading companies.
- Data Analysts / operations data-focused profiles with strong reporting discipline.
Technical & Systems Skills
- Hands-on experience with Marine ERP systems.
- Solid understanding of CTRM systems.
- Familiarity with voyage and distance tools (e.g. ShipNet, IMOS, Dataloy, or similar).
- Strong Excel, reporting, and data-handling skills.
Language
- English: Fluent (B1 level or higher).
