The General Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating all on-site construction activities across multiple trades, ensuring that work is executed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards. The role involves overseeing foremen of different trades, managing manpower, coordinating with engineers and subcontractors, and ensuring proper utilization of materials and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate construction activities across multiple trades, including civil, steel, masonry, carpentry, electrical, and finishing works.
- Allocate daily tasks to foremen and labor teams, ensuring efficient manpower utilization.
- Monitor work quality, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and project standards.
- Enforce all safety protocols and site HSE regulations.
- Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and foremen to resolve technical and operational issues.
- Inspect materials, tools, and equipment for suitability and compliance.
- Maintain accurate daily progress reports, labor records, and site documentation.
- Identify potential delays, conflicts, or bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Mentor and guide foremen and site staff to improve productivity and quality.
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and monitoring project milestones.
Working Conditions:
- Field-based role requiring full-time presence on construction sites.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, heavy equipment, and active construction zones.
- Must adhere to PPE and site safety protocols at all times.
Required Qualifications & Competencies:
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 710 years experience in construction supervision across multiple trades (civil, steel, masonry, carpentry, electrical, finishing).
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and site safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work schedules.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
- Proficient in site documentation, reporting, and basic computer tools (MS Office).
