Job Summary

The GIS and Database Administrator will design, implement, and maintain geospatial data architectures and database systems to support efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis of spatial data. This role collaborates with GIS analysts, developers, and project teams to ensure data integrity, performance, and security across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain database and geospatial data infrastructures (e.g., spatial databases, GIS servers, and metadata catalogs).
  • Develop and enforce data standards, schemas, and quality control procedures for spatial and non-spatial data.
  • Manage data migration, integration, backup, and recovery processes to ensure data availability and integrity.
  • Optimize query performance and implement indexing, partitioning, and caching strategies for large geospatial datasets.
  • Monitor system health, perform capacity planning, and implement security controls and access governance.
  • Collaborate with GIS analysts and developers to support web mapping, dashboards, and spatial analysis tools.
  • Document architectures, workflows, and troubleshooting procedures; provide training and knowledge transfer as needed.
  • Participate in project planning, risk assessment, and change management activities.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Geomatics or Geospatial Information.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in geomatics or geospatial data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with spatial database platforms
  • Familiarity with GIS software geoprocessing workflows
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Licensed droen pilot

Skills And Competencies

  • Experience with database administration, performance tuning, and security
  • Solid understanding of geospatial data formats
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
