Job Purpose:
To oversee the General Ledger (GL) function and ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards. The GL Supervisor will lead the GL team in managing month-end closings, reconciliations, and financial analysis, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily operations of the GL team, ensuring timely and accurate posting of transactions
- Oversee the month-end closing process, ensuring all financial entries are recorded, reconciled, and closed in accordance with the timeline
- Review and verify journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
- Monitor the integrity of financial data and ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulations
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation
- Provide support to finance and operations teams regarding GL inquiries and issues
- Train, mentor, and develop GL staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
- Implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the GL functions
- Assist in the development of accounting policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Preferred qualified bachelor's degree or professional diploma such CPA, CA, UKCA
- Preferred experience in auditing
- 7 years+ of experience in accounting and financial statements
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting standards
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Oracle, SAP), along with MS Office applications
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in creating financial statements under IFRS
