Job Description

Globe 24-7, in partnership with a well-capitalised and internationally active mining and resource investment group headquartered in Abu Dhabi, is supporting the appointment of a Group Head Environment, Health & Safety (EHS). The organisation operates across multiple jurisdictions and complex mining environments, with a strong focus on disciplined governance, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.

The Role

The Group Head Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) is a Group-level authority role reporting to executive leadership. The position carries full governance accountability for defining, implementing, and enforcing the organisation's EHS strategy, systems, and fatal risk controls across all assets and projects.

This is not a site-based safety management role. It is a Group leadership position with intervention authority, responsible for standardisation, independent verification, contractor governance, and embedding a zero-compromise safety culture across the portfolio.

The Responsibilities

  • Define and enforce non-negotiable fatal risk controls and life-saving standards across all operations.
  • Establish and maintain Group-wide EHS governance frameworks, policies, and assurance systems.
  • Exercise stop-work authority where critical risks are unmanaged or controls are ineffective.
  • Lead independent verification of high-risk activities and critical control performance.
  • Oversee and lead investigations into fatalities and serious incidents, ensuring systemic root causes are identified and addressed.
  • Hold site and contractor leadership accountable for EHS performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory EHS requirements across all jurisdictions.
  • Own Group-level contractor EHS standards, approvals, audits, and enforcement mechanisms.
  • Drive leadership accountability by embedding safety performance into operational KPIs and incentives.
  • Build organisational capability and consistency across EHS systems, culture, and risk management practices.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on safety, risk, and environmental governance matters.

The Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering (Mining), Safety, Environmental Management, or related discipline.
  • 20+ years EHS experience within mining or heavy industry.
  • Deep exposure to large-scale underground and surface mining and processing environments.
  • Proven experience managing contractor-heavy operations, including enforcement and suspension authority.
  • Strong regulatory engagement experience across complex jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading investigations into fatalities and serious incidents.
  • High personal integrity, independence, and courage to challenge executive leadership when required.
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to influence across multiple sites and geographies.

The Rewards

The role offers a competitive executive remuneration package and the opportunity to shape and govern EHS strategy at Group level across a diversified international mining portfolio. The position is based in Abu Dhabi with frequent site travel.
