ROLE OVERVIEW

Our client is a large, fast-growing food distribution group operating at scale across multiple markets. The Group Technology Director will play a critical leadership role in unifying and modernising the company's technology landscape across the group.

This role requires a hands-on, strategic technology leader with deep experience in grocery retail or food distribution, capable of bringing together SAP, digital platforms, and cloud infrastructure into one cohesive, high-performing ecosystem.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the Group Technology strategy aligned with business growth and scalability.

Integrate and harmonise three core systems across the group:

SAP (ERP and transactional systems)

Digital platforms and applications

Cloud infrastructure and services

Ensure seamless system interoperability and data consistency.

Act as the bridge between business and technology stakeholders.

Dynamic and multi-disciplinary leader.

Drive application rationalisation and modern architecture design.

Oversee cybersecurity, IT governance, and vendor management.

Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Commercial teams.

Support expansion initiatives including new markets and distribution centres.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Essential:

Senior technology leadership experience in food distribution or retail.

Strong hands-on knowledge of SAP, cloud platforms, and digital systems.

Proven ability to unify complex, multi-system environments.

Experience operating in large, multi-site organisations.

Strong executive stakeholder management skills.

Preferred:

Background with Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, or similar grocery retailers.

FMCG or perishables supply chain exposure.

International or multi-country experience.
