Treasury & Investments Group
Treasury offers a diverse range of conventional and Islamic banking solutions and is responsible for the Group's funding, investments, and centralised risk management activities. It manages the Bank's borrowings, issuance of debt securities, and use of derivatives to mitigate financial risk, while investing in a range of instruments, including green bonds, short-term placements, and corporate and sovereign debt securities.
Job Purpose:
To lead and manage ADCB's emerging market (non-GCC/G7) foreign exchange and rates activities, including overseeing structuring and execution of transactions, conducting risk and investment return analysis and managing a team of Emerging Markets (EM) traders, in order to maximise profitability whilst minimising risk exposure and ensuring compliance with internal policy and external regulations.
In this role, your key responsibilities include:
- Play a key role in directing, developing and implementing ADCB's EM trading strategy and framework in order to maximise profitability whilst effectively managing risk exposures
- Assist in directing the development and structuring of ADCB's EM treasury products, engaging support and input from the Bank's support and delivery channels, to ensure the Bank's products and solutions remain client-focused and market competitive
- Support the leadership of ADCB's EM treasury activity and capabilities, including pricing and structuring of transactions, risk and investment return analysis and overseeing interactions with other desks and departments in order to maximise the performance and profitability of the Bank
- Help guide ADCB's EM treasury activity and capabilities, including pricing and structuring of transactions, risk and investment return analysis and overseeing interactions with other desks and departments in order to maximise the performance and profitability of the Bank
- Lead and manage the EM trading team through reviewing the quality of work, providing feedback and promoting personal and professional development in order to build the overall capability of the team and to drive improvements in performance
- Participate in overseeing all relevant aspects of EMs treasury risk management and monitoring of exposure limits, taking corrective action as appropriate, in order to assure the quality and integrity of ADCB's trading activities
- Oversee the origination and execution of trades and transactions in accordance with ADCB's standard operating procedures and risk appetite in order to drive profitability
- Take part in the preparation of the business area's budget and manage and monitor the financial performance against the budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon
The ideal candidate should have the following experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in Emerging Market trading or market experience of a similar role gained over 15 years in Banking
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or equivalent
- Familiar with industry best practice
- Knowledge of local regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication skills
- Analytical and numerical skills
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
